IKO Gutter Replacement: The Austin Owner’s Guide
IKO gutter replacement in Austin typically costs $18 to $34 per linear foot installed, so a standard single-story home with 160 to 200 linear feet of gutter runs between $2,900 and $6,800 depending on the profile, the number of corners, and whether downspouts need to be swapped at the same time. We stock IKO-compatible gutter profiles and hangers on our trucks, and most replacements are completed in a single day once we’ve measured and written the estimate. The usual way an Austin homeowner discovers the problem is a corner seam that’s started to pull apart after a spring storm, or a section of gutter that’s sagged enough to spill water over the fascia board instead of carrying it to the downspout.

Which IKO Models This Applies To
IKO manufactures its gutter profiles under the IKO ArmourGard and IKO RainPro lines, and most Austin homes we service have either the 5-inch K-style profile or the 6-inch half-round profile. The K-style is the more common of the two in Central Texas, and it’s identified by the flat bottom, the shaped front face that mimics crown molding, and the measurement across the top opening. If you have the 5-inch K-style, the replacement must match that width exactly – a 6-inch gutter won’t seat properly in the existing hangers, and mixing profiles across a single run creates a seam that will leak within the first year. The half-round profile is easier to spot because it’s a true semicircle, and it’s more often found on older Austin homes in Hyde Park and Bouldin Creek where the architectural style calls for it. We’re an independent service provider and not affiliated with IKO, but we work with both OEM IKO gutter sections and quality aftermarket equivalents that match the gauge and profile. The decision usually comes down to lead time: OEM sections sometimes require a special order, while the aftermarket equivalent is on the truck and installed the same week.

Signs Your IKO Gutter Replacement Is Failing
- Water spilling over the front edge during rain. This usually means the hangers have pulled loose from the fascia board, or the gutter has been knocked out of pitch so water pools mid-run instead of flowing to the downspout. The fix is a re-pitch and re-hang, but if the gutter itself is bent or the hanger screw holes have wallowed out, replacement is the honest call.
- Visible separation at the seams or corner joints. IKO gutters are joined with sealant at the seams, and Austin’s heat cycle – 100-degree days followed by sudden downpours – breaks that seal down faster than the manufacturer’s lifespan estimate. A leaking seam is repairable once, but if it reopens, the metal has flexed beyond what sealant can hold.
- Sagging or pulling away from the fascia. We see this most often on Austin homes with original fascia boards that have started to rot from years of gutter overflow. The gutter isn’t necessarily bad, but if the wood behind it has softened, the replacement includes new fascia board and properly seated hangers.
- Rust streaks or pinhole leaks on the underside. Gutters hold standing water when the downspout clogs, and standing water against bare metal is how pinholes start. Once rust has compromised the galvanized coating, patching is temporary at best – the section needs to come out.
- Downspout separation at the elbow. The elbow joints take the brunt of every wind gust and the weight of every clog. When the elbow pulls free or the crimped end splits, replacing the affected gutter run and downspout together usually makes more sense than a patch job that fails again in six months.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Across Austin, you’ll see installed quotes from $18 to $34 per linear foot for IKO-compatible gutter replacement. The range depends on the profile you’re replacing, the height of the roofline, the number of inside and outside corners, and whether we’re also replacing downspouts, elbows, and the hangers. A full 1,800-square-foot single-story in the Zilker area typically lands around $3,200 to $4,500 for a complete 5-inch K-style replacement, gutters and downspouts included. Our written estimate breaks out the per-foot material cost and the labor separately, so you can see exactly what you’re paying for before we touch the ladder. Every gutter replacement is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a seam leaks, a hanger fails, or a section pulls loose within a year of the install, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s in writing, every time.
DIY or Call Us?
A homeowner on a single-story home can safely keep an eye on their IKO gutters: check the pitch with a level after a storm, clear out the leaf litter before it turns into a dam, and look for daylight under the hanger screws. But gutter replacement is not a one-person job, and it goes wrong fast on a ladder when you’re working a 10-foot section sideways. We’ve repaired more than a few DIY replacements in Austin where the old hangers were reused against a rotted fascia board, or the pitch was set by eye and every seam leaked. If you’re up on a ladder and the gutter is above a two-story drop, or if you find rotted fascia wood when you pull a loose section, call (361) 202-8874. We’ll bring a written estimate, and we’ll never try to sell you a gutter replacement when a re-pitch and new hangers would do the job.
FAQs
IKO galvanized gutters typically last 15 to 20 years in Austin, but our summer hail and the heat-soak on south-facing rooflines can cut that to 12 years on the hottest exposures. Aluminum profiles hold up a little longer, and regular downspout clearing is the single best thing you can do for lifespan.
Yes, and we’ll tell you plainly if the repair is worth doing. A single leaking seam or a loose hanger is worth fixing for a few hundred dollars. If you’ve got three seams that have been re-sealed before, or the metal itself is rusted through, replacement is the cheaper move over the next five years. Call (361) 202-8874 and we’ll tell you which one you’re looking at.
Most single-story Austin homes are done in one day, including removal of the old sections, replacement of any rotted fascia board, and installation of the new gutters and downspouts. Two-story homes or complex rooflines add a half day to a full day depending on access.
We stock common IKO-compatible 5-inch K-style and 6-inch half-round sections, hangers, elbows, and downspouts on our trucks. If your home needs an unusual profile or a custom color match, we’ll order it and schedule the install as soon as it lands, usually within a week. We also carry gutter and roofing materials from GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed when the job calls for a different brand match.
