IKO Shingle Repair: The Austin Owner’s Guide
IKO shingle repair in Austin typically runs $350 – $850 installed for a standard repair covering 1 – 3 damaged shingles, flashing correction, or a small section replacement. We stock IKO-compatible shingles on our trucks and can match most IKO series (Cambridge, Dynasty, Nordic, Marathon) the same day we visit. Most Austin homeowners discover the problem the hard way: a shingle in the yard after a spring storm, a water stain on the ceiling, or granules piling up in the gutters. Sometimes it’s a single tab lifted by wind; other times it’s a section that hail beat up last spring and has been quietly failing ever since.

We’re an independent Austin roofing company, not affiliated with IKO, but we install and repair their shingles every week. Here’s what you need to know if you own an IKO roof and something’s not right.
Which IKO Models This Applies To
Most IKO shingle roofs in Austin fall into three series: Cambridge (their architectural line, the one we see most often), Dynasty (a heavier architectural shingle with a wider exposure), and Nordic (a performance shingle rated for high wind and impact). There are also older Marathon three-tab roofs still around, mostly on homes built before 2010. It matters which one you have, because the shingle dimensions and exposure differ between series. Cambridge and Dynasty are both architectural but not interchangeable; Dynasty has a larger exposure and a different sealant pattern.
The easiest way to identify what you have is to check the bundle wrapper if you kept extras (many Austin builders leave a bundle or two in the garage or attic) or look for the IKO name printed on the back of a shingle. If you can’t identify it, we can match color and profile on site. On OEM versus aftermarket: for IKO roofs still under warranty, IKO’s warranty terms generally require their own shingle for the repair to keep coverage intact. For roofs out of warranty, a quality matching architectural shingle from GAF, Owens Corning, or CertainTeed in the same color family often works fine and saves money. We’ll tell you honestly which makes sense, and you’ll see the written price before we start.

Signs Your IKO Shingle Repair Is Failing
- Granules collecting in gutters or at downspout exits. IKO shingles, like all asphalt shingles, shed granules as they age. A sudden heavy shed after a hailstorm or a decade of Texas sun means the protective layer is thinning and the mat underneath is exposed.
- Cupping or curling at shingle edges or corners. Austin’s heat plus moisture trapped in the attic causes the asphalt to dry unevenly. Once a shingle curls, wind gets under it more easily, and it’s only a matter of time before it tears.
- A shingle tab in the yard or on the driveway. This is the one people miss. A single tab means the sealant strip failed at that point. It also means the shingle above it is now acting as a water channel. Get it looked at before the next rain.
- Water staining on ceilings or in attic corners. By the time you see this inside, water has already made it through the shingle, underlayment, and decking. It’s not a shingle repair anymore; it’s a repair plus a decking and interior check.
- Lifting or flapping shingles visible from the street after wind. Austin gets 30+ mph gusts routinely in spring. If you can see shingles lift from the ground, the sealant bond has failed in that section, and every wind event is a slow tear.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
| Repair Scope | Typical Installed Price (Austin) |
|---|---|
| 1 – 3 shingles replaced, matching IKO series | $350 – $550 |
| 4 – 10 shingles plus sealant correction | $500 – $750 |
| Small section (up to 3 ft × 3 ft) with flashing check | $600 – $850 |
| Valley or flashing repair alongside shingle work | $700 – $950 |
The range depends on roof pitch, number of stories, how many shingles need to come off, and whether underlayment or decking needs repair once we open the section up. Steeper roofs take longer and cost more; two-story homes cost more than single-story. Every estimate includes the shingles, the labor, any nails and sealant, and disposal of the old material. You get a written line-item price before any work starts, so there’s no change-order surprise after we open the roof. Every repair also comes with our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within 365 days, we fix it free.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things from the ground: look for lifted tabs, missing shingles, and heavy granule buildup at downspouts. You can also check the attic on a sunny day for pinholes of light through the decking. What we don’t recommend is walking an Austin roof in July, or any month, without roofing experience, the right shoes, and a harness. IKO shingles get slick with morning dew, and the pitch on most Austin ranch and two-story homes is enough to slide. Beyond the safety issue, repairs done wrong void the shingle warranty and create a bigger leak than the one you started with.
If you’re not sure what you’re looking at, call (361) 202-8874. We’ll send a technician whose name and photo you receive before the visit, and they’ll badge at the door with photo ID. You’ll get a written price before anything gets touched.
FAQs
In Austin’s heat and hail, expect roughly 15 – 22 years from IKO Cambridge, 18 – 25 from Dynasty, and 20 – 30 from Nordic, depending on shade, attic ventilation, and storm exposure. Same as every shingle in central Texas, the sun is the bigger long-term enemy than rain. A roof with good attic ventilation will outlast an identical one without it by years. If your roof is past the 18-year mark and you’re seeing granule loss and curling, it’s worth a full inspection rather than piecemeal repairs. Call (361) 202-8874 for an honest take.
Yes, if the damage is isolated to one or a few shingles and the surrounding section is still sealing properly. Once we see widespread sealant failure or granule loss across the roof face, repairing individual shingles becomes throwing money at a roof that’s reaching the end. We’ll tell you which situation you’re in and give you the written price for the repair without pushing a full replacement. Estimates are free.
Most single-section repairs take 1 – 2 hours on site. If we need to open the section and replace underlayment or decking, it may run 3 – 4 hours. We don’t start until you’ve approved the written price.
We stock IKO Cambridge and Dynasty in the most common Austin colors (weathered wood, charcoal, driftwood, and slate) and can source other colors and series quickly from local suppliers. If your roof uses a less common color, we’ll confirm availability before we schedule, so you’re not waiting. Call (361) 202-8874 and we’ll check while you’re on the phone.
Your roof shouldn’t be something you worry about – that’s what we’re here for. If you own an IKO roof in Austin and something doesn’t look right, call (361) 202-8874 for a free estimate. A live person answers, 24/7. We’ll put the price in writing before any work starts, and you’ll know exactly who’s coming to your door before they arrive.
